Currently, Sean works for NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX and serves as the Constellation Program’s Reliability and Maintainability Manager. In this capacity, Sean is responsible for defining and executing the strategic R&M policies and directives for the Program across the Agency. Sean Carter has spent more than 20 years as a Reliability Engineer in various technical and managerial capacities. Sean has provided applied Reliability Engineering principles within the Energy Services, Aerospace, and Semiconductor industries. Previously, Sean has served as the Global Director of Reliability Engineering for Halliburton in the Energy Services industry. Within this role, Sean defined the Roadmap for the worldwide Reliability Program of surface equipment as well as down-hole tools. Minimizing downtime of service tools and rigs thus increasing profitability of field services was the primary goal. Culture and paradigm change was required for success in both the operational personnel as well as the design teams. The policies and initiatives led to the published savings of millions of dollars each year.
Sean earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. Sean has worked for Ford Aerospace, Loral, Lockheed Martin Space Services, SAIC, Halliburton, MEI, Mantech SRS, and NASA. This diverse career has provided a strong balance of insights from business development, Systems Engineering, and Mission Assurance perspectives.
Additionally, Sean currently serves as the Treasurer for AIAA-Houston, Vice President for SRE Houston, member of the RAMS Management Committee and President of the JSC National Management Association.
